Listen.......................can you hear it??? The mellow, sweet sound of a Native American Flute riding on the wind, sounding like it is coming from all points of the compass at once?
This is the sound I fell in love with years ago. At first I just listened to artists like Carlos Nakai, Coyote Oldman, and others who had mastered this wonderful instrument. I wanted to play myself, but could not afford one of the wooden instruments.
About three years ago, a friend of mine jokingly said, "Why don't you make your own flute out of PVC tubing? I bet you can't make it sing like a wood flute!!!"
After much trial and error, and loads of scrap tubing, I finally made one sing!! I introduced it to a friend of mine who makes the wooden flutes of hardwoods, cedar and rivercane, and who has an album of flute music out himself. The voice and tone surprised him, and he now owns several of my flutes in different keys.
I personally make each and every one of the flutes, and each one is test played before being sent to it's new owner. I do not decorate them as I feel that is up to the personality of the owner.
These flutes are perfect for anyone who wants to learn to play this amazing instrument, but does not have the money to purchase one of the expensive wooden ones. They will surprise you with their mellow voice and tone. Personally, I can't go by one of them without picking it up and playing a little while.
